The Public Policy Institute will customize and facilitate
strategic discussions and interactive exercises for leaders
from non-profit advocacy organizations to I find common goals,
focus on mutually supportive strategies, identify collaborative
opportunities with colleagues in the social change movement
and leading a coalition campaign. Participants will interact
with experienced practitioners who work inside and outside
the public policy arena. Discussions can focus on:
- The planning and management of a winning a coalition public
policy campaign
- Maximizing and strengthening each coalition members internal
organizational capacity
- Building and managing coalitional power, including with
nontraditional partners
Policy institutes can also focus on building specific skills,
including:
- Identifying and assessing common policy opportunities
- Developing persuasive joint campaign messages
- Coordinating and supervising contract or in-house lobbyist
in a coalition campaign
- Establishing and maintaining productive relationships
with state policymakers
- Managing the inevitable competition and conflict outside
of the coalition campaign
